New Release: Deathmatch Dimension for Quake
I first became interested in game development through Doom and Quake back in the 90s, and although I was never able to get hold of a Doom editor due to my lack of internet access back then, I eventually got a Quake editor called Worldcraft (which was bought by Valve, and became Hammer), and started messing around with it. It was through these early experiments in level design that I realised that it would probably be a pretty cool job to do, and was lucky enough to be able to make that a reality when I started my first job for Rebellion back in 2002, partly on the strength of my Quake levels and contacts in the Quake modding scene.
Somehow I never gave up making levels as a hobby, and although it's not been something I've been especially active in doing over the past few years, the fact that I started a series of maps based on the original Quake deathmatch levels way back in 2006 and never finished it has been bugging me. I wanted to finish the whole series, but never really found the time, and I was only able to finish four of the maps in the series.
Over the last few months, I've made the remaining levels, in addition to polishing the old maps that I originally released years ago, and now it is finally done! If you are a Quake enjoyer, please head over to the Deathmatch Dimension page and download it. All the maps support single player, coop and deathmatch, and can be played in sequence as a full episode, or out of order starting with the shotgun.
I hope you enjoy the episode!
